We believe in a world where ‘caring communities’ share the values of co-operation, respect for difference, equality of opportunity and access to essential resources.
A world that prioritizes nurturing and the facilitation of relationships based on empathy, kindness and non-violence.
A world that seeks above all else to protect the health of its children and its children’s planetary home.
We recognize that all humans are interconnected and that each of us in our own way help to create this world.
Healthy attachments are essential to the optimal health of humans of all ages. Simple moments where we take a breath and attune to the present have great value in creating this world. In these simple moments we build trust, communication and compassion for each other, we build relationship, family and community.
We invite you to come share simple moments with us...
The Family Nurturing Centre’s mission is to support families through the provision of resources, services and education to lay the foundations of mental health and well being in the family. Through revitalizing caring communities and connecting families that align themselves with the spirit of nurturing, empathy and cooperation, children flourish and the whole society benefits.
Over the years the FNC has pioneered a village model of parenting support, inspired by the old African proverb; ’It takes a village to raise a child’. Generations of parents have shared their experiences and developed networks of long lasting friendships that extend throughout Perth and beyond.
The FNC was founded in 1989 by Sam and Sydel Weinstein in response to the needs of a growing number of pregnant women who wanted more than just their regular Yoga class. Sam and Sydel began offering specialized Pregnancy, Parent and Baby Yoga classes that took on the flavor of ‘contemporary extended families’ where parents felt at home, would chat, share information and support. A village style community was born.
The centre incorporated as a benevolent society in 1995 and works to facilitate a ‘caring community’ that shares in a social vision where the community and home work together in creating peaceful and harmonious societies.
